Tasmania is set to embark on a $3.1 billion, two year construction blitz which will generate 15,000 new jobs.
A key part of the splurge on construction in the Apple Isle is 2,300 new dwellings, reports Inside Construction.
A focus will be on affordable and social housing, while projects will be fast-tracked in the areas of community infrastructure, roads, irrigation and essential infrastructure.
Premier, Peter Guetwin praised Tasmanian’s for the way in which the Coronavirus health crisis was brought under control on the Island state and said this is the next phase to re-boot the economy – without a second wave hitting.
The construction boom comes after recent years seeing regular growth in Tasmania.
